Type your own word or words into the search box
Simply type a word or words into the search box and then either click search, or press the return key on your keyboard to start the search
Use the search box drop down list to suggest words
The search box, on the home page and in the top right hand corner of most of our web pages, has a drop down list containing:
- Names of medicines (brand names and active ingredients)
- Conditions (i.e. what the medicine is used for, e.g. asthma) and
- Pharmaceutical companies (i.e. those pharmaceutical companies providing financial support for Medicine Guides)
Type in the first few letters of a medicine, condition or pharmaceutical company, wait a moment and a drop down list displays any matches. Click a word in the list to add it to the search box and then click search or press the return key to start the search.
Search tips
Search for several words
If you type in several words into the search box, for example alcohol dependence, the search finds Medicine Guides that contain both the words alcohol and dependence in the medicine name, condition and company sections. There is no need to include the term and between the words.
The word order does not affect the results. Alcohol dependence will find the same results as dependence alcohol.
Combining search words using and, or
You can combine your search words using and, or. For example:
- Typing in alcohol dependence will find Medicine Guides that contain both the words alcohol and dependence.
- Typing in alcohol and dependence will find Medicine Guides that contain both alcohol and dependence.
- Typing in alcohol or dependence will find Medicine Guides that contain either the word alcohol or the word dependence, or both.
Capital letters
The search function is not case sensitive and so searching for paracetamol and PARACETAMOL will find the same results.
