Immunisation (passive) - Home

Immunisation (passive): Immunisation is the process of making someone resistant to catching a disease which is caused by germs such as viruses or bacteria. This is done by making sure the person has antibodies in their blood which will inactivate the organism which causes the disease. Passive immunisation is where the antibodies are taken from another source, such as an animal or another person, and put into the body.

The medicines listed below are used to treat immunisation (passive). The list is arranged in alphabetical order and may include the:
  • Generic medicine name (which reflects the active ingredient, and is also referred to as the non-proprietary name)
